The Ward
by David Calcutt
Russia, 1896. A psychiatric ward in a hospital. Dr. Ragin is fascinated by a new patient, Gromov, who claims to have visions, and to be able to see events as they happen, in other times and places. He visits Gromov every day. But who IS Gromov? Can he really see things - or is he just pretending. And who is REALLY mad here?
The Ward by David Calcutt is based on a short story by Anton Chekhov, Ward No. 6. We staged a community tour in 2017-18, with a grant from Awards for All. .
