Community Tours and Projects

Our community projects focus on health issues. A team of professional arts practitioners work with a cast of community volunteers on a play based on an aspect of mental health; and the play is then toured to venues such as hospitals, care homes and community centres.

Our aim in these projects is not to teach about health issues – we are experts in theatre, after all, not health. Rather, our aim is to raise issues, and reflect people's experiences; and to stage a piece of theatre as a stimulus and starting point for discussion. We always include post-show discussions and workshops as part of a performance.

Our latest project is Exit, on the subject of male suicide. To find out more, click here.

Previous projects include:

The Ward: on historical approaches to the treatment of mental health, and their legacy. To find out more, click here.

I’d Do It All Again: on dementia. To find out more, click here.

Images show: a performance of I’d Do It All Again at Rushall Care Home, Walsall; and an audience of health workers at a performance of The Ward at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley.
